What’s In My Makeup Bag

What’s in my Makeup Bag – Glow Edition

Heeeeelllo lovelies! How’s it goin?

I typically do a makeup bag shakeup ever week or two so I can cycle through my collection and switch up my products… However I’ve been wearing a few products almost daily and wanted to share my current ride-or-die faves! These products are my go-to’s for my daily morning makeup routine, that keeps me glowing and looking put together during the work day.

The Skincare

Gotta feature my Laneige faves, obvs!! I’ve literally been using the bright renew range almost exclusively for the past 6 weeks! I wash my face and pop on a bit of the Laneige Bright Renew Emulsion. This emulsion helps to restore moisture back into the skin after washing. I like to spread it across my palms and gently press the emulsion into my skin to make sure it fully absorbs.

About half the time, I follow up with the Laneige Bright Renew Original Cream. I usually only do this if my skin is feeling a little more dry than usual. It has a thicker, gel-cream consistency, and has the same light soft fragrance that all Laneige products have.

It also claims to fade dark spots so I always make sure to put a bit under the eyes. My eyebags are terrible and the only solution I’ve found is to use concealer, so hopefully this cream follows through on its promise!

My skin honestly feels noticeable refreshed and radiant. You guys know I absolutely love Laneige and I can safely say their products hit a home run every single time. I don’t think I’ve tried a Laneige product that I didn’t like.

Finally, I have a tiny pot of Charlotte Tilbury’s Magic Cream that I save for special occasions and days that I want to look particularly glowy! I concentrate this on any place where I have enlarged pores or dryness as I finds it does a really good job of smoothing and hydrating. Also the scent is heavenlyyyyyy!!

The fail-proof makeup bits…

The Base: Laneige Mini Pore Skin Perfector

It’s a primer and moisturizer in one! I’ll be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of primers, especially if they’re silicone based. Don’t get me wrong, I want to look as smooth and glowing as the next girl, but silicone primers have a tendency to break me out if used too often so I often opt to skip out. This “skin perfector”, as they call it, is the best of both worlds – a Laneige moisturizer (win!) crossed with a silicone-free primer that claims to prolong makeup wear (double win!!)

The All Around Face Palette: Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Glow Look In a Palette

My current go-to palette, especially if I need to get out the door (lmao every morning cuz my lazy ass sleeps in til the last minute.) Everything you need for a polished, glowy look is in here. Three beautiful shades for the eyes, two blush shades, a contour and the softest, most candle-lit highlight a girl could ask for. I did a full review with swatches that you can read here.

The Foundation: Smashbox Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Hydrating Foundation

This foundation is my go-to daily foundation, and I wear it every day for work. It doesn’t oxidize, crease, or fade away on my skin. It’s medium coverage so it feels light while still concealing my inperfections. The pigmentation is concentrated enough that I can choose not to wear concealer. I wear the shade 1.1 (lightest shade) and I’m about 2/3rds finished!

The Concealer: it Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer.

I’ve mentioned this before and I’ll say it again – this is my holy grail concealer! It’s heavy duty and pigmented and if you have stubborn dark undereye circles, this stuff will seal ’em up. My concealer is so battered and the labels have all rubbed off, and I’ve got like 75% of the tube left (after like 2 years lol) because you only need the tiniest dot! It also covers up redness or zits and holds them down, especially if you pop a bit of powder on top.

The Brow: L’Oreal Brow Stylist Eyebrow Pencil in Brunette

I feel like I’ve gone through at least 10 of these pencils so far. It’s a skinny mechanical brow pencil that is a close match to my skin (medium brown colour). It’s waxy but not too hard or stiff, and it’s just so reliable! It’s a great alternative to the Anastasia brow pencil (if you can’t justify paying $20 for a brown pencil haha). I always stock up whenever I see these ones on sale, and they usually go for about $8-9 at Walmart.

The Lipstick: YSL Rouge Volopté Shine in 9 Nude in Private

My current everyday lip colour that I’ve been wearing to work. It’s a glossy ‘your-lips-but-better,’ warm nude shade, which I have about a million and two of. I call this my big girl lipstick because the lipstick case looks luxe (as do all YSL products,) and I can basically apply this without looking because the formula is so forgiving. I have also used this as a glossy blush on the cheeks. Read more about this in my Sephora Haul post here.

Givenchy Noir Interdit Mascara

I feel like in order to pull off that glowy and dreamy look, you have to have the longest and most fluttery lashes ever. I have been in love love love with the new Givenchy Noir Interdit Mascara*! I’ve been using it every day since I received it at the beginning on August.

The packaging is beautiful. It is thick and heavy, which definitely adds a luxurious weight. The formula and design of this mascara definitely helps my pin straight Asian lashes actually hold a curl – and for a non waterproof mascara that’s pretty amazing. The wand is shaped like a comb and can be bent 90 degrees, giving you more wiggle room to get that wand as close to your lashes as you need. This is a trick that has been used by makeup artists for ages now, and Wayne Goss recently talked about this technique in his Mascara Hacks video.

It gives you a dolly eyelash effect!

The comb gets close and paints every eyelash. I love it because it gives so much length! It creates the ~false lash~ look without feeling too heavy. The comb effect really feels like you’re brushing out your lashes, and this ensures that you won’t get clumpy spider lashes. Just a really lovely long and defined effect. I’m super in love and I’d totally repurchase this!

You can find the mascara on Sephora for CA$38 here!

Golden Goddess can also be used alone for a hint of luminosity and a sheen finish to your skin.

I think it’s a great way to glow up on a night out or on special occasions! It makes you skin look healthy and bronzed, even if you’re rocking the pale look like me this summer 😉 There is also a rose gold edition if that’s more your cup of tea!

Golden Goddess

We’ve been having a terrible summer so far – absolutely no sun at all! I’m so pale! Well, I work in and office and don’t get much time out in the sun anyway, but I was super excited when I heard about Cocoa Brown‘s new Golden Goddess Oil! It’s a nourishing and hydrating body oil infused with gold shimmer to help achieve a beautiful glow without damaging skin under harsh sunlight.

I have often heard British blogger friends sing praises about Cocoa Brown, and I’m so glad it’s available in Canada now! 😀 They also sell a variety of self tanners. As someone who doesn’t really tan, the Cocoa Brown Golden Goddess Oil is a great alternative to boost the appearance of glowy, summery skin!

Just shake shake shake the bottle, and apply to arms, legs, body, even your hair! It doesn’t feel sticky and dries down well. Coconut oil is one of the main ingredients so it smells fantastic. I loved wearing this out during my staycation because I felt so summery! 🙂 It does have a subtle shimmer on it but nothing too glittery.

The signature scent: Chanel Chance Eau Tendre

One of my favourite perfumes, and my everyday signature scent. I always feel glowy and pretty when I’m wearing a scent that I love, and Eau Tendre is so light and feminine… It just feel so ~me~. I always get compliments when I wear it too!

I’ve been switching up my perfumes with a few rollerballs here and there (which I’ll show you in an upcoming post,) but I always ccome back to my trusty Chanel.

As described on the Chanel website

A green and fruity Grapefruit-Quince accord intertwines with the softness of Jasmine and the smoothness of White Musks for an intoxicatingly light, floral trail.

Anyway, those are my current faves!

Have you tried any of these products?

What products do you love using to achieve a glowy, hydrated look?

Gotta have great skincare products. It’s essential for maintaining that youthful look as much as possible, and just for overall health, as our skin the largest organ & responsible for keeping out all the toxins we encounter daily.
