New in Asian Skincare

Hello lovelies! As you already know, I’m a massive fan of Asian beauty and skincare. You’ve heard me preach time and time again about how amazing Asian skincare products are – they’ve really figured it out. I firmly believe that having a curated skincare regime will make you look and feel great, as well as improving makeup application. Asian beauty and skincare products have truly improved the texture and appearance of my skin! I’m always excited when I get to try out a new Asian skincare brands.

Today, we’ll be taking a look at new launches from Laneige, Sekkisei, Paul & Joe, and Dr Belmeur!

I’ve raved about the Laneige Multiberry Yogurt Repairing mask in the past, in fact you can read my indepth review here! It has remained a staple in my masking collection for the past year. It is extremely moisturizing, creamy, and best of all…

That’s right, it smells exactly like strawberry pocky. I love the fruity biscuity smell enough to wear it on my face. It’s not overpowering or irritating, and those with sensitive skin shouldn’t experience any problems with it. It’s just so delicious!

I love putting this on after using an intense exfoliating treatment such as the Pixi Peel N’ Polish because it feels very soothing and comforting on the skin. It also washes right off and leaves the skin feeling plumped and hydrated.

You can actually pick up a sampler at Sephora for $8, and it includes a little pot of the Multiberry Mask and Water Sleeping Mask! The pots are great because they contain about a 7-10 days worth of product!

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

Before this product, I had never heard of a lip mask. Thick lip balms, yes, but not a mask. Spoiler alert, this little pot of cream does absolute wonders! It comes in a small container with a spatula to scoop out the product, meaning you don’t have to dip in your fingers.

As I’ve said in the past, I’m not a fan of potted lip products – they get in your nails, they’re messy, and not to mention the dirt on your fingers gets mixed into the product! So the spatula is a really great addition. I have been keeping this on my bedside and apply it every night.

I really enjoyed using this mask. It’s a thick gel-cream that coats the lips. It doesn’t feel sticky or gross – applies really nicely! Apply it before bed and wake up with hydrated, plumped lips in the morning!

A few new bits from a brand I’ve never heard of, but am so excited to learn more about! Introducing Sekkisei – a Japanese skincare brand which has made its Canadian debut in beautyBOUTIQUE stores. It focuses on infusing the benefits of herbal essences with effective skincare products.

Of course, I have to point out the packaging. I absolutely love the royal blue colour, and the solid plastic packaging. It feels very luxe. Anyway, I have three products to show you today!

Sekkisei Herbal Gel

This is a cool product because it combines the effects of an emulsion, serum, cream, massage gel and a mask! It’s an all-in-one product that you

This gel has multiple functions to achieve skin clarity through 6 approaches: moisturizing, retexturing, anti-inflammation, radiance-enhancing, firming, and the reduction of dullness. It comes with a little spatula (hooray,) and

Basically, you use a small scoop of the spatula for every day use. as it can be layered under makeup! If you want to use this product as a sleeping mask, use two scoops. The gel texture reminds me of the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask, or the Clinique Moisture Surge.

Sekkisei Treatment Cleansing Oil

As much as I love makeup, I enjoy taking it off. Especially with cleansing oils and balms! It’s so satisfying to see makeup just melt away.

I’m in love with the Sekkisei Treatment Cleansing Oil!! It contains three types of emollient oils that claim to soften coarse skin and smooths texture, as well as easily breaking down makeup. And it works like a charm!! My current mascara (Fairy Drops Scandal Queen mascara) is waterproof and incredibly stubborn – the price I must may for length and curl that holds up through anything and everything.

Anyway, this oil melts it off in seconds! Which is seriously impressive since it takes the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm about three rounds before all of the mascara is removed.

Sekkisei Facial Cream Wash

The first in the collection is the Sekkisei Facial Cream Wash. Housed in a dark blue tube, this is a moist and condensed foam with an abundant amount of herbal essences that support the regeneration of skin cells, improving clarity and translucency.

I love a good cleansing foam! It’s a cream to foam cleanser that lathers up beautifully and then

The best thing is that it makes your face feel so fresh and clean! My skin didn’t feel tight or squeaky clean afterwards (which I thought was a good feeling until I read that the tight sensation means the wash has extracted moisture from the skin!)

I’m going to make a bold claim here – I think I like this more than my Laneige Power Essential Skin Toner.

Say whaat? Sachie, are you actually placing this above your beloved Laneige? That’s right folks, and I’m going to tell you why!

When I first tried it, I poured it onto a cotton pad however I found the consistency to be slightly thicker than a liquid toner… More like a watery serum if that makes sense! Dr Belmeur describes it as a mild hydrating solution that calms skin and boosts moisture. In that case, I skip the cotton pad and apply it directly to my face with my fingers.

It has a very light fragrance (which is allergen-free.) I love how easily this absorbs into my skin, leaving it feeling soft and plumped. I feel like other skincare products apply more easily after I use this Daily Repair Toner.

The Dr Belmeur Daily Repair Moisturizer is a “low-irritant moisturizer that calms sensitive skin and protects skin damaged by the external environment.” It’s a light cream that packs a punch of hydration. It is lightly scented and a little bit goes a long way. A small blob covers my entire face! With that in mind, you’ll be getting great value compared to other moisturizers on the market, since this tube will last you a good while.

I also believe this would be a great moisturizer for men as it’s a basic moisturizer without the frills, and feels comfortable and lightweight on the skin. As one of its main properties is relieving redness, it can be used to follow up after shaving. It also has very minimal packaging.

Here’s one to look out for during the winter months, or if you suffer from dry spots / atopic eczema! The Dr Belmeur Daily Repair Ato Salt Cream is one of the brand’s most popular items, as well as one of the priciest. It’s a mineral salt cream that provides deep moisturization and itch relief for dry skin. It contains 8% dead sea salt and hydrating ingredients to prevent flakiness or skin irritation,

I was having issues with dryness earlier in the month. I was testing out makeup and had a bad reaction to something which caused a rash and dry patches! And let me tell you, this stuff is seriously hydrating. It keeps your skin feeling moisturized and protected, and it definitely helped to clear up my dry patches within a week! So I’ll 100% be using this ATO Salt Cream when the colder weather hits.

The Face Shop Papaya Peeling Gel

Aaaand finally, not new but one of my favourite exfoliating products of all time. I will never stop raving about this because it’s my favourite gel exfoliator! I recently stocked up on three bottles during their flash -40% off sale, so each bottle ended up being around $10 (normally $18.) Basically when this gel is massaged into the skin, dead skin cells begin to flake up into little balls (I always compare them to eraser shavings.) This gel removes stubborn face makeup and removes dry skin. I love love love it, and I highly recommend picking it up if you get a chance!

Paul & Joe Silky Hand Cream

Such a lovely fragranced hand cream, and my current staple that I keep at my desk in the office. I’ve been using it daily when my hands feel a bit dry, and it’s a moisturizing, scented lotion.  It comes in lovely blue packaging and has the nicest, light floral scent. I think this would make a lovely gift as well, especially in the upcoming fall months!

Those are some of my new Asian skincare discoveries as of lately – have you tried any of these products? I’ll be sure to do a follow up on my skincare routine and favourite products in the upcoming months to let you know how these have been holding up!
