A Giant Korean Skincare Haul

Cosrx Snail Mucin 96 Essence 01

Sounds like a clickbaity beauty guru Youtube videos that you end up clicking on because it sounds gross yet weirdly intriguing at the same time.

Countless bloggers touted snail products as being holy grails in their skincare routine.

Today, I’ll be sharing part 1 of my giant K-Beauty haul – the skincare items!

Many of them being…snail skincare!

I saw an almost instant boost in the appearance of my skin after just a few days of using these products.

Apparently snail mucin is a magical skincare ingredient that has the ability to repair everything from dry patches, to acne breakouts, to hyperpigmentation.

Hell yea I’m all for putting snail slime on my face if that means I have flawless and hydrated skin!

So when I made my giant k-beauty haul, I had to pick up some snail mucin infused skincare! Today, I’ll be reviewing 5 different snail products.

But how many snail products does a girl even need?

Probably not that many, but my mom jumped in on my haul as well so I’ve been testing some of her products as well (hehehehe)

Cosrx Snail Mucin 96 Essence 02

COSRX Advanced Snail Mucin 96 Power Essence

I’ve seen this product touted time and time again on Asian Beauty forums and blogs!

This essence contains 96% snail secretion filtrate for super intense repair and hydration. It was the first of the snail products that I used and I can honestly say I saw my skin transform after using this.

The consistency is more like a gel serum than an essence (which I compare to having more of a cream texture), and it has an almost tacky finish.

It feels slimy (very…snaily lmao.) I use 3 pumps on my face at night.

The essence does not have a scent and absorbs quickly into the skin. When applied, it make your skin feel although it has a youthful…bounce to it?

Fifty Shades of Snails has a fantastic post about this product, as well as the benefits of snail goo for the skin. She mentions that it has wound healing properties which I totally agree with.

I had a huge pimple which I scratched open (by accident, I swear!!) and 4 days of applying this essence daily transformed it from an angry red bump to almost nothing.

Mizon Creams Review 02

Mizon Snail Wrinkle Care Sleeping Pack

I needed a new overnight mask/cream because I finished up my Laneige Water Sleeping Mask and wanted to try something new.

I saw a recommendation for this product on r/AsianBeauty and threw it into my cart on a whim because it was on sale.

It comes in a jar with a little plastic spatula. The formula itself is thick and fairly tacky when first applied but dries down smoothly. It has that same slimy finish as the COSRX essence.

If you have dry skin, then this feels like an absolute dream to apply at night before bed.

I usually apply this as my last step before bed. This product really seals in any products that are applied before.

My face feels moisturized and hydrated when I wake up in the morning, which is impressive in itself considering I had a bad habit of rubbing everything off on my pillow.

Because this product is so…thick, I usually don’t follow up with an oil. Plus the texture in the jar almost feels like a greasy, sticky gel-cream but dries down when applied to the face and gives you that same hydrated, plumping effect as the COSRX essence.

Mizon Placenta Ampoule Cream

I never thought I would ever say this, but…I enjoy putting placenta on my face. (LOL)

I’ve found my favourite uber-moisturizer and it’s…mystery placentas!

I bought the Mizon Placenta Ampoule Cream on a whim because I was grabbing some Snail Eye Cream and, and WOW.

I pretty much just bought it because I was like ‘lol placentas‘ and I felt like it was something Gwyneth Paltrow would use. I have no idea what kind of placentas are in it… Who knows! The mystery is half the fun!

It had a fast plumping/softening effect, sunk into my skin beautifully, and smelt comfortingly like lavender rather than afterbirth.

I have dry skin that tends to feel taut and uncomfortable if I under moisturize, but can also get greasy if I over do it, and this hit just the right spot.

It’s light and hydrating and sinks into the skin quickly. Like…your skin feels instantly hydrated.

I’ve been using it for a few days and along with the softness I’ve noticed a general evening out of skin tone and a slight but noticeable reduction in some red acne scars that had been loitering around my jawline.

I bought this duo off eBay after I tried the Mizon Snail Sleeping Pack above because I read on reddit that Mizon was discontinuing products. So I panick bought this duo. This duo is perfectly sized for travel.

Also, I wanted to try ALL THE SNAIL PRODUCTS! All of them!!

I haven’t really tested out these products yet (gotta finish up my current serum before I crack open a few one.) Getting a little crazy here.

Anyway, here are some quick first impressions.

Mizon Multi Function Formula Snail Repair Intensive Ampoule

The description on the bottle says “80% of snail secretion filtrate contained wrinkle care & skin repair.”

Compared to the CosRX Snail Mucin Essence, this feels a lot more like a serum. It’s way more liquidy and not as…squidgy.

It’s not as gloopy and stringy, and absorbs almost instantly when applied to the skin.

The CosRX essence was unscented, whereas this ampoule has a pleasant light scent!

Mizon Multi Function Snail Repair Duo 01

Mizon Multi Function Formula All In One Snail Repair Cream

A perfect little travel moisturizer! This jar is 30mL. This moisturizer has the same scent as the ampoule. Haven’t tried it yet but dipped in for a swatch – it’s a light cream with the same texture as the ampoule, but a little bit thicker. More like a gel creme.

Petitfee Hydrogel Eye Patches Review 02

Petitfee Black Pearl & Gold Eye Patch

Ya girl has some ~designer~ eye bags going on here and was in desperate need of some gel eye patches! Eye gels can be so expensive, so I picked this up on a whim because it was only $6.67USD for 60 patches/ one month’s worth. It comes with a little spatula to lift the gels out of the jar.

First impression: They’re a gel eye patch that feels very cooling and soothing on the skin. The first time I used it I felt a tingling sensation and was immediately like ???! until I read that many other people had to same experience and it was fine. My skin didn’t look or feel irritated after.

The essence itself is super liquidy and spills out of the jar if you tip it though.

Etude House Moistfull Collagen Set

Etude House Moistfull Collagen Skin Care Kit

I only really bought this for travel purposes and the upcoming convention season. I hate bringing full sized bottles of product with me to cons (especially Anime Expo) because they’re heavy, and I usually end up losing them.

So I love handy little kits like this! They are also great for testing out new products before committing to a full size.

(Although I dont think I’ll be needing any more skincare any time soon…lol)

I’ve heard great things about the Moistfull Collagen line. This kit comes with a toner, emulsion, cream, and essence. That’s 4 key steps in the famous Korean skincare routine all set for you!

Mamonde Evertdat Aqua Sun Cream

Now that the sun has started peeking out (after what seems like an eternity), I’ve started looking into a new SPF.

Don’t get me wrong – I still use SPF in the winter! (Maybe half of the time…) I’m using a Neutrogena SPF but I don’t really like the texture of it.

This Mamonde Sun Cream feels more like a lotion than an SPF. It also has a fresh floral scent. I don’t know what Calendula smells like, but I’m assuming this SPF is scented like that?

I like how it feels on my skin. It doesn’t feel greasy and absorbs quickly.

Also.. I’m not sure what ingredient is doing this, but for some reason it makes my current BB cream oxidize like crazy! When I use this under my Lioele Triple the Solution BB cream (which usually matches me skin quite well,) it makes my face look orange.

Quite alarming actually lol. Now I usually save this on days when I am wearing minimal makeup / foundation, or if I’m going bare faced outside.
